Counsel for the Journey

Ellen G. White — Quotation 1
“Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him.”
Steps to Christ, p. 93, paragraph 2 (SC 93.2)

Remember God's Leading

Ellen G. White — Quotation 2
“In reviewing our past history, having traveled over every step of advance to our present standing, I can say, Praise God! As I see what the Lord has wrought, I am filled with astonishment, and with confidence in Christ as leader. We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history.”

Our Closing Prayer

Closing Prayer
Our loving Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace with thankful hearts. You are our Creator, our Redeemer, and the One who knows every burden we carry. In Isaiah 41:10 You say, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee.” Yet we confess that sometimes our fears speak louder than Your promises. We worry about our families, our health, our finances, and tomorrow's uncertainties. Forgive us for letting fear direct our decisions. Tonight we bring You every prayer request shared in this group, including the concerns no one has spoken aloud. You know each person by name. Bring comfort where there is sorrow, healing according to Your will where there is sickness, reconciliation where relationships are strained, and wisdom where decisions are difficult. Teach us that faith is not the absence of hardship but confidence in Your presence through hardship. When fear returns, remind us that You promise to strengthen, help, and uphold us. As we leave, let Your peace shape our homes, our words, and our choices. We surrender our fears to You and place our trust in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Our Closing Prayer

Closing Prayer
Our Father in heaven, we praise You as the Lord of wind and waves. When the disciples cried out in the storm, Jesus spoke, “Peace, be still.” We confess that we too can become overwhelmed by what we see and forget Who is with us. Some among us are facing storms of grief, conflict, illness, disappointment, or uncertainty. We name these burdens before You now, and we lift up the requests written and spoken by our group. Please give courage to those who feel alone, patience to those waiting for answers, and steady faith to those whose circumstances have not changed. Help us distinguish between real responsibilities we must face and fears we need to surrender. Teach us to pray before we panic, to listen before we react, and to trust Your goodness even when the waters remain rough. Where relationships have been wounded, lead us toward humility and forgiveness. Where someone needs practical help, make us willing instruments of Your love. Thank You that Jesus is not absent from our storms. Carry Your peace into our homes this week, and let our confidence rest in Christ's presence and power. In His holy name we pray. Amen.

Our Closing Prayer

Closing Prayer
Mighty and faithful God, You commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous because You would be with him wherever he went. We thank You that courage is not something we must manufacture on our own. It grows as we remember Your Word and follow Your leading. Forgive us for the times we have delayed obedience because we feared failure, rejection, or the unknown. We bring before You our group's prayer requests, our loved ones, and the choices that weigh upon our hearts. Give wisdom to those facing important decisions, strength to those standing for what is right, and gentleness to those who must speak difficult truths. Protect us from confusing boldness with pride or courage with carelessness. Help us walk humbly, seek wise counsel, and take the next faithful step You place before us. May our families see integrity in our actions and compassion in our words. When we feel inadequate, remind us that Your presence matters more than our abilities. Keep our minds rooted in Scripture and our hearts open to Your correction. Lead us forward, not by self-confidence alone, but by confidence in Jesus Christ. We ask this in His name. Amen.

Our Closing Prayer

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You that Your Word teaches us that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We confess that anxiety can make us harsh, impatient, withdrawn, or quick to assume the worst. Forgive us for the ways fear has shaped our words and damaged our relationships. Through Your Holy Spirit, form in us the character of Jesus. Give us power to do what is right, love for those who are difficult to love, and clear judgment when emotions are strong. We bring to You every prayer request shared tonight: the needs of our families, the burdens of our community, and the private struggles known only to You. Comfort those who are weary, guide those who are confused, and give strength to those who are tempted to give up. Teach us to respond to troubling news with prayer, to conflict with truth and kindness, and to uncertainty with steady trust. Let our faith be visible in honest work, faithful commitments, generous service, and patient listening. May we not merely speak about courage but live it through Your grace. We place our minds, hearts, and futures in Your hands. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Our Closing Prayer

Closing Prayer
Our faithful Father, as we complete these five weeks together, we thank You for every promise You have placed before us. You have reminded us that You are with us in fear, present in the storm, faithful when courage is required, and able to give power, love, and a sound mind. Your Word calls us to hold fast without wavering, because You are faithful who promised. We confess that our trust sometimes weakens when answers are delayed. Forgive us for measuring Your faithfulness only by what we can see. Tonight we lift up every participant and every prayer request gathered throughout this study. Remember those who are grieving, those seeking healing, those carrying financial or family burdens, and those facing battles they have not shared. Draw each one close to Jesus. Help us remember how You have led us in the past, and give us perseverance for the days ahead. Make us people who encourage the fearful, support the struggling, and speak hope grounded in Scripture. As this series ends, let our faith continue to grow through prayer, obedience, fellowship, and daily trust in Your Word. Keep us steadfast in trials and joyful in Your salvation until the day we see Christ face to face. We give You our thanks and our lives, in Jesus' precious name. Amen.

Final Reflection
God has not promised a life without storms. He has promised to walk with us through them.
